What's new
The headline is the 350cc Buddy Bottle, a first for Air Arms, feeding a self-regulating valve system. Bottle-fed PCPs carry far more air than cylinder rifles, and the practical result is a shot count that lets you shoot all session without reaching for the filling gear. For club shooters, plinkers and pest controllers who resent time spent topping up, that capacity is the Vanguard's core argument. An optional cylinder conversion kit exists for shooters who prefer the traditional format, which is a thoughtful touch typical of the company.
Around the bottle, the specification is thoroughly modern: an ambidextrous side-lever action, a fully adjustable two-stage trigger, and a synthetic stock with adjustable butt pad, reversible cheekpiece and a UIT accessory rail. At 3.5 kg and 943 mm overall, it is a manageable, well-balanced rifle rather than a heavyweight. Early verdict
Judged on specification and first impressions, the X200 Vanguard is a confident debut: the reliability-first Air Arms formula, translated into a bottle-fed, adjustable, ambidextrous package that is ready to shoot straight out of the box. Traditionalists will keep their Air Arms S510s, and rightly so. But for shooters who want maximum time shooting and minimum time filling, and Air Arms build quality underneath it all, the Vanguard is exactly the rifle the range was missing.
